Contemporary MgO production technologies around the world emit large quantities of CO2, depriving the planet of critical carbonate deposits, a natural form of CO2 storage.
"They managed to develop a technology that would make Quebec a first class producer of magnesium oxide." - Jean Nolet, CEO, Coop Carbone, Canada
With the ECO2 technology, MgO goes green.
ECO2 does not use or rely on natural sources of carbonates to make MgO. We are one enormous recycling project, using waste mine residues which we decontaminate and recover. The CO2 emitted by our own thermal activities, using natural gas is recirculated and used as a magnesium extraction agent. Our CO2 emissions are thus drastically reduced compared to the best technologies existing in the market today.
The production of 60,000 tons per year of MgO by ECO2 will relieve the planet of almost 160,000 tons of CO2.
Compared to all other MgO production technologies used today, that burn and release CO2, ECO2 captures and recycles CO2, resulting in the world’s first green MgO.
