The ECO2 story

​​At ECO2 MAGNESIA, sustainable development is not just a far-away goal, it is our identity statement. ECO2 MAGNESIA is proud to have developed a patented technology that creates world class, ultra-pure (99%+) magnesia, using an innovative process that decontaminates abandoned mine tailings while directly ​reducing CO2 emissions.​​

ECO2 Magnesia, the world’s first green MgO

​​Invented at the laboratories of the Center Eau Terre Environnement of the National Institute for Scientific Research (INRS-ETE) in Quebec City, Canada, our cutting-edge technology was specially designed to create tangible environmental benefits while producing a superior product.​

​​​​The ECO2 story is the product of a unique “Made in Quebec” industrial collaboration between academic research professionals, industry experts and environmental technology specialists.

Current plans envision construction of a plant with 60,000 tons of installed capacity, which will decontaminate more than 360,000 tons of mine tailings per year and will reduce 160,000 tons of greenhouse gases per year.​​
